The people worshiped multiple gods ,and ultimately themselves, making their success their identity and independence their idol. When Paul proclaimed Jesus as Lord and King, he challenged everything Thessalonica stood for. His methodical approach involved reasoning from Scripture, explaining three crucial truths: the Messiah had to suffer, rise from the dead, and Jesus is Christ. This message led to Jason opening his home to Paul, demonstrating biblical hospitality that shares both the gospel message and life itself. The cost was immediate - religious leaders formed a mob, attacked Jason's house, and accused Christians of proclaiming another king. Despite every human indicator pointing to failure - Paul & Silas staying only three weeks, massive persecution, and new believers left alone - the church thrived.
