The Hand of Christ
Preacher: Joshua Cho Series: Guest Preacher Scripture: Revelation 1:12–18
Revelation 1:12-18 presents one of Scripture's most powerful visions of the glorified Christ. John sees Him walking among seven golden lampstands, described with divine attributes: hair white as snow, eyes like flames of fire, feet like burnished bronze, and a face shining like the sun. This overwhelming vision causes John to fall at His feet as though dead - the appropriate response to encountering God's holiness. What happens next reveals Christ's heart toward us. He places His right hand on John and says, 'Fear not.' This simple gesture demonstrates three profound aspects of Christ's ministry. First, it's a comforting hand - the same hand that holds the universe reaches down to reassure us that God is for us, not against us. Second, it's a healing hand - throughout the Gospels, Jesus intentionally touched those needing healing, communicating love through physical connection. Finally, it's a strengthening hand - though John was elderly and exiled, Christ commissioned and empowered him for one more assignment. This teaches us that Christ never gives a task without providing the grace to accomplish it. The glorified King is also the gentle Savior who extends His hand to comfort, heal, and strengthen us in our moments of greatest need.
