Jesus, The Cornerstone

Preacher: Josh Stringer Series: The Gospel of Mark Scripture: Mark 12:1–12

The Parable of the Tenants in Mark 12 illustrates God's remarkable patience and the consequences of rejecting His Son. Like a vineyard owner who repeatedly sends servants despite their mistreatment, God showed extraordinary restraint in dealing with humanity. This patience wasn't born from naive optimism but from God's eternal confidence in Christ's work. The religious leaders, represented by the tenants, rejected and killed the prophets and ultimately Jesus, thinking they could claim the inheritance for themselves. However, God transformed this rejection into triumph by making Jesus the cornerstone of a new kingdom. As a cornerstone, Jesus provides the foundation for proper alignment in all aspects of life - from decision-making to relationships and daily purpose. Building life on Jesus means practically aligning time management, financial decisions, relationships, and life priorities with His teachings. This foundation offers not just stability but also identity as God's people and clear direction for living.
