Have Mercy on Me
Preacher: Josh Stringer Series: The Gospel of Mark Scripture: Mark 10:46–52
The encounter between Jesus and blind Bartimaeus reveals transformative truths about spiritual sight and divine mercy. Despite the crowds attempting to silence him, Bartimaeus demonstrated extraordinary faith by recognizing Jesus as the Messiah and persistently crying out for help. His immediate response to Jesus' call and clear request for healing exemplify the kind of faith that moves mountains. This story challenges us to examine our own spiritual blindness and the ways we might overlook others in our daily lives. Jesus, despite His crucial journey to Jerusalem, stopped to help one person, teaching us that everyone matters in God's kingdom. The art of noticing others requires us to look up from our distractions, pray for those we encounter, and practice genuine listening. When Jesus restores our spiritual sight, we begin to see others as He does, notice those society overlooks, and respond with genuine compassion.
