Who Can Be Saved?

Preacher: Josh Stringer Series: The Gospel of Mark Scripture: Mark 10:13– 16:1

The path to genuine discipleship is illuminated through two powerful narratives - children approaching Jesus with pure faith and a rich young man struggling to let go of his possessions. These stories reveal that entering God's kingdom requires the humility and complete dependence of a child, while worldly wealth often creates barriers to following Jesus fully.Wealth can foster self-reliance, pride, and competing priorities that make it difficult to submit to God's lordship. True discipleship demands surrendering everything - our possessions, status, and self-sufficiency - to follow Christ wholeheartedly. This surrender, though challenging, leads to greater rewards: a new family in Christ's church and eternal treasures in heaven. The central message challenges believers to examine their hearts regarding faith and possessions. Are we approaching Jesus with childlike trust or self-reliance? Our use of money often reveals our true priorities, and loosening our grip on worldly wealth enables us to follow Jesus more faithfully. The ultimate truth remains that Jesus alone is all we truly need.
