The Transfiguration
Preacher: Joshua Cho Series: The Gospel of Mark Scripture: Mark 9:1–13
The transfiguration stands as a pivotal moment where Jesus Christ's divine glory was unveiled before Peter, James, and John. On a mountaintop, Jesus' appearance was transformed to reveal His heavenly nature, with His clothes becoming brilliantly white beyond earthly comparison. The appearance of Moses and Elijah alongside Jesus symbolically connected Him to the Law and Prophets, confirming His role as the fulfillment of Scripture. This divine manifestation demonstrated three key aspects of Christ's glory: His divine radiance, revealing His true nature; His redemptive purpose as the promised Messiah; and His authoritative word, confirmed by God's voice from heaven. The experience provides a framework for understanding how encountering divine glory leads to personal transformation, freedom from spiritual bondage, and a deeper connection with God through intentional time spent in His presence and Word.
