Be Thou My Vision

Preacher: Josh Stringer Series: The Gospel of Mark Scripture: Mark 8:1–26

Our spiritual vision can deteriorate gradually, much like physical eyesight, impacting our ability to perceive and follow Jesus faithfully. Mark 8:1-26 reveals three distinct levels of spiritual vision and the process of restoration. The Pharisees represent complete spiritual blindness, demanding signs while refusing to believe what's before them. The disciples exhibit spiritual short-sightedness, struggling with trust despite walking closely with Jesus and witnessing His power firsthand. Their vision was limited by hardened hearts, physical distractions, and poor spiritual memory. The healing of a blind man illustrates how Jesus restores spiritual vision - often through a gradual process rather than an instant transformation. This restoration requires humility to acknowledge our blindness, patience with the process, and trust in Jesus' healing touch. The journey to clearer spiritual vision involves examining where we might be blind to Jesus' work, identifying distractions that cloud our sight, and actively remembering God's faithfulness. Through this process, Jesus faithfully works to bring greater spiritual clarity to those who follow Him.
