The Foundation, Heart, and Aim of Fruitful Missions
September 8, 2024 Preacher: Kris Mobbs Series: Guest Preacher
Scripture: Matthew 28:16–20
Kris Mobbs delivered an inspiring message on the Great Commission in Matthew 28. He began by underscoring the sovereignty of God, reminding us that Jesus' authority over heaven and earth is the foundation of all missions. Kris illustrated how God's plan for the nations is woven throughout the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, and how His sovereignty extends to our individual lives, even in times of suffering. The heart of missions, Kris explained, is making disciples—developing lifelong followers of Jesus through deep, gospel-centered relationships. He shared examples from his wife Julie's work in Uganda, emphasizing the importance of long-term investment in people's spiritual growth. The ultimate goal of missions, Kris noted, is to establish and strengthen healthy churches, which are essential for true discipleship and community growth. He challenged us to trust in God's sovereignty, invest in meaningful relationships, and actively support our local church communities.
