History

How We Got Here

Living Stones Church was started in 1995 by approximately 25 people who desired a church with a strong focus on missions and biblical exposition. The church was originally named Lakeland Baptist Church as they met in rented facilities at Lakeland Plaza. The church purchased property at 2110 Sharon Rd in 1996 and called Rob Peters as their first pastor during the same year. Rob pastored the church until 1999.

Lakeland Baptist Church called Gary Bulley to be their second pastor in 2001.  The church completed their first facility in 2002.  The church remained at this location until 2011 when they sold the property to Forsyth County to expand Sharon Springs Park.  The original building is now Sexton Hall on Sharon Springs Road.  The church purchased the current location on Ronald Reagan Blvd and remodeled the facility where they currently meet.  The church also changed their name to Living Stones Church to reflect the location across from the rock quarry and 1 Peter 2:5.

Gary Bulley was called in 2021 to lead “Pastor 2 Pastor” (P2P), an international pastoral training mission effort started through Living Stones. Josh Stringer was called to be the third pastor in 2021 and continues to lead the church to this day.
