Made to Multiply: Becoming a Disciple Who Makes Disciples
This September, we're launching a four-week teaching series designed to help us think differently about what it means to follow Jesus.
We teach our kids what we know. We share the things we love. We recommend the restaurants, books, shows, and products we can't stop talking about. And yet, when it comes to following Jesus, we can sometimes fall into the mindset that discipleship is simply about my relationship with God.
But Jesus never intended discipleship to stop with us.
We'll meet on Wednesdays in September from 6:30-8 p.m. The four interactive sessions will be focused on moving from simply being disciples to becoming disciple-makers.
We'll explore four questions:
- September 9—See the Kingdom: What did Jesus mean when He announced the Kingdom of God, and what does following the King have to do with making disciples?
- September 16—Build the Path: How can the Church intentionally create pathways that help people move from simply attending to becoming mature followers of Jesus?
- September 23—Engage: Meet People Where They Are: How do we recognize where people are spiritually and help them take their next step toward Jesus, whether they're spiritually asleep, searching, consuming, or actively following?
- September 29—Multiply: Become Movement-Ready: What does it look like for an ordinary believer to intentionally invest in someone else so that discipleship continues beyond us?
This won't be a traditional lecture-style class. We'll spend time in Scripture, learn from several helpful voices in the field of discipleship, discuss ideas around our tables, work through real-life scenarios, and, most importantly, consider how we personally can become disciple-makers.
